    • APR releases their Stage II dual pulley system for the Audi 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 - Excellent bang for your buck

The 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 has been in a bit of a limbo. Why? Because the factory blower can only be pushed so far. As many of you know the B8 S4, S5, and Q5 models with the supercharged V6 respond very well to mods up to a point.

The dual pulley system here from APR allows owners to squeeze more boost out of the factory R1320 Eaton TVS unit. People have experimented with dual pulley setups for a while now and the quickest 3.0 TFSI supercharged cars are running dual pulleys.

Let's look at the difference in supercharger rotational speed from stock, to the SC drive pulley, to the SC crank pulley, to both:

Here's a good explanation of what is going on:

This results in a healthy bump in horsepower and torque across the entire RPM range with the supercharger operating at a higher rate of speed. The pulley is CNC machined from billet stainless steel, e-coated black for an OEM appearance and is press fitted to the factory supercharger unit.

This results in a larger bump in horsepower and torque across the entire RPM range, as the supercharger is spinning at an even higher rate of speed. The pulley retains the factory harmonically balanced crank pulley and bolts on top of the existing unit. It is CNC machined from light weight billet aluminum with weight saving pockets throughout. It has an anodized black finish and includes new crank pulley bolts.

This speed was chosen after extensive engine and chassis dyno testing with various pulley sizes and supercharger speeds. The result is an even higher horsepower and torque gain across the entire RPM range. However, at the airflow levels achieved with a dual pulley setup, maximum power is severely restricted by the factory throttle body unit. The APR Ultracharger Throttle Body Upgrade is necessary to take full advantage of the dual pulley configuration, and is available in platform specific variations for the B8/B8.5 A4/A4/S4/S5, Q5/SQ5 and C7 A6/A7.
To get the absolute most boost possible and the most out of the factory blower you will need to run this dual pulley setup. The only way to get more power is to upgrade to a larger blower which is much, much more money.

Just look at the pricing for the pulleys:

APR Supercharger Drive Pulley - (57.75 mm)
      MS100135
      $224.99

APR Supercharger Crank Pulley - (187 mm)
      MS100133
      $399.99

That is quite the bargain. Especially considering the Stage II ECU software to go with it is only a $324.99 upgrade from Stage I.

Let's look at the power graphs at the wheels:

Up to 451 horsepower at the wheels on race gas with the dual pulleys. That is almost 50 whp more than with just the single pulley.

Simply a great bang for your buck upgrade.

You gotta post up their new "ultra charger" for the motor frees up the bottle neck caused by the factory throttle body they're claiming nearly 500hp on pump gas.

I appreciate the link but there is already a thread on it here. Just look in the 3.0 TFSI forum.

Slightly off topic, but do we know what the difference is between the B8 and B8.5 motor? The B8 is showing an additional 33whp stock on APR's site with a touch more headroom across the board in all graphs. I'm looking forward to seeing some times with dual pulleys and the ultracharger.

B8.5 has different gearing. Seems to dyno a little lower to the wheels when tuned. Stock is way lower. It appears Audi dialed it back compared to the B8 from the factory.
