What you see below is the limited edition Volkswagen Beetle GSR. Just to job your memory this is a model limited to 3500 units (not really all that rare now is it?) that gets a 10 horsepower bump to its 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder for a total of 210 horses. It is available in either DSG or 6-speed manual and also gets GSR graphics and yellow paint so everyone knows what a special Volkswagen Beetle it is that you bought.

So what kind of performance does the front wheel drive GSR offer? Let's just use the word paltry. 0-60 takes 6.3 seconds and the 1/4 mile takes 14.8 seconds with a trap speed of 94.9 miles per hour. In the opinion of VWBoost, that is not all that special and not all that different from a standard Beetle Turbo. This a 6-Speed manual so the DSG dual clutch version will likely be slightly quicker but that still won't turn this into much of a performance car.

Volkswagen, this Beetle is a waste of everyone's time. Do the US VW enthusiast a favor, take a look at the Super Beetle built by APR, and give us that instead. You can keep this one. Nobody will miss it.
