    • Why is nobody talking about Eurocode and Burger Tuning getting 700+ horsepower out of a turbo upgraded Audi B9 S4 3.0 EA839 V6?

Audi B9 S4 and S5 tuning is taking a back seat compared to the 8V RS3 sedan and the TT-RS. Why? Because the 2.5 TFSI ECU is cracked and tuneable whereas the B9 S4 and S5 EA839 3.0 twin scroll top mount turbo V6 ECU is still posing problems.

Yet, Eurocode and Burger Tuning or BMS were able to get a ton of power out of this 2018 B9 S4. Yes, that BMS of JB4 N54 tuning fame.

If you can not get access to the ECU directly Terry at BMS is who you call. Eurocode made that call and while we do not know the technical details what they are doing is working.

This S4 has an upgraded turbocharger using a center section that is similar to the SRM (Silly Rabbit Motorsport) 2.5 TFSI turbo upgrade. The turbo housing remains stock.

The turbo can support over 700 horsepower and we do not doubt them but want to see a dyno. AudiBoost salivated over the potential of this motor since it was announced.

Think about it. This motor features an easy to reach top mount twin scroll single turbo and it is shared across several VAG platforms. The Panamera, Audi SQ5, VW Touareg, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q8, Audi A8, Audi A7, and Audi A6 all share this motor.

This motor should be a tuners dream and a value. In the video below you can get an idea that it is quick but obviously this is very early in the tuning process.

Things are looking promising and hopefully some supporting data comes soon.

I'm supposed to pick up the car and do some testing, that's kinda why it's not up there yet. I've been swamped with MBZ/Kia production over here but will get to that very soon!
@Terry@BMS this is the car I was talking to you about the other day.

Where is the RS5 tuning love, with the hot-v twin turbo V6? Shouldn't that be even more potent?

        Very cool. Staying tuned.

No. Ultimately they will be close to even but a big single has advantages and should be easier to fit/develop. Bonus points for being cheaper to begin with.

The stock turbos are ridiculously small. I posted pics to the ongoing picture thread from press day at the ny auto show. I doubt they leave much room for improvement.

are the internals of the RS5 2.9 stronger than those in the S5 3.0?

Porsche didn't use the single turbo version. They all use the twin turbo 2.9. Both the 3.0 and 2.9 have the integrated manifolds with the head.

What testing? Wasn't Terry involved directly with it?

No way of knowing. You would assume they would be more potent but they may be equal and sourced from the same supplier.

I think maybe you confused it with the 4s, the Panamera and Panamera 4 utilize the 3.0 twin scroll V6 shared with the S4/S5, not the twin turbo 2.9:

This is the 4S V6 by the way, same 2.9 engine as the RS4/RS5:

Point to those pics again. Or post them in this thread.

Definitely would like to take a look.

Confusing stuff. I stand corrected then. Wondering why the TT is smaller displacement?!

In the A5/S5 the engine is a 3.0-liter, but in the RS 5 it displaces 2.9 liters. The reason? A shorter stroke that helps the fuel/air mixture better fill the combustion chamber.

^ not it sure it’s accurate, but that’s how Motortrend describes why.

As he said in the video right now they are just over the power of an rs5, 450hp, so they have a ways to go getting up to 700hp. It will definitely take full ecu tune plus upgraded hpfp or secondary injection to make that possible.

Additionally the trans is 8hp55 with only a 516ftlbs torque rating.
        https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...5-Transmission

The zf in the 335i held up to considerably more torque than it was rated for before it started slipping and burning so perhaps the 8hp55 will be able to withstand more than it’s rated for.

I'm not too sure but if you look a the 3.0's bore and stroke it is the exact same as the supercharged 3.0 TFSI. This leads me to believe it was developed first or developed using what they already had and then they made changes or the 2.9 twin.

Why? I don't know. You would assume Audi would just use the same pistons and rods to lower costs as that is what they do.

He said faster than RS5 I believe. Not slightly more power.

The power is said to be 700.
