    • BMW F92 M8 Competition vs. Porsche 992 Carrera 4S vs. Audi R8 V10 vs. Mercedes-AMG GT S 4-door vs. Tesla Model X drag and roll races

Here we are again with Carwow doing puzzling races but due to the hardware involved it is difficult to avoid discussion on it. One thing to keep in mind is the 992 Carrera 4S is featured this time meaning Carwow intentionally used a 992 Carrera S RWD to sensationalize their Tesla Model 3 Performance race.

Just keep in mind the goal here is not to be objective but to try to get clicks and you will be fine.

As stated, nice hardware here but it is wet out on the tarmac. Which with all the cars being all wheel drive is not the big deal it would be if they intentionally included a RWD to skew the results.

The Tesla Model X P100D is the heaviest car by far at 5480 pounds. That is nearly 1000 pounds more than the next heaviest which is the Mercedes-AMG GT S 4-Door 4Matic+. For those wondering, the M8 follows at ~4200 pounds and the Carrera 4S and Audi R8 V10 are roughly a wash.

The damp launch pad makes for trouble as cars struggle to put down the power. The AMG in particular has trouble. They try again and the cars get better launches.

      Results:

      1. R8 V10 Performance 10.7
      2. M8 Competition 11.0
      3. Model X P100D 11.1
      4. AMG GT 63 S - 11.2
      5. Carrera 4S - 11.4

No trap speeds because, well, it is what it is.

The roll race is a disaster because the cars are just cruising at speed in comfort modes and not in gear in sport modes ready to race. What is the point of this?

The Tesla takes off and the AMG catches up and passes and so does the R8.

It is a shame competent people are not testing these cars.

IMO this time around, the race is decent outside of not providing the trap speed as always.

From standstill, all cars perform as should under such conditions (which again is fair given all being AWD).
Roll races they did two. In the second one the proper gears were being held (except for the R8 which MAYBE would be best in 2nd doing 50mph).

Not need for over bashing CarWOW as long as the pecking order of the cars involved isn't messed up. Entertainment first they surely do...so does the BoostAddictClick here to enlarge

Car wow usually does some decent comparisons. Damn, 5480lbs for the SUV? Can you imagine if those little electric motors didnt have to haul around those current technology heavy battery packs!

That's why people swapped them into some lighter chassis' with great results. They still are heavy but much lighter.

The electrics are so damn boring though.
