    • Which super German 4-door laps quickest? C8 Audi RS7 vs. BMW F90 M5 Competition vs. Mercedes-AMG GT S 4-Door Hockenheim GP lap test

These are three of the world's best super sedans or use the 'four door coupe' nomenclature if you must with the Mercedes. All three are twin turbo V8's with all wheel drive meaning the difference between Audi, BMW, and Mercedes approaches is not what it once was.

They are all fast though. We already saw Sport Auto set a blistering laptime with the Mercedes-AMG GT S 4-Door on the Hockenheim GP. For whatever reason, this time around produced a lap half a second slower but it is still the quickest of the three:

      Hockenheim GP:

      Lamborghini Huracán Evo: 1.49,0 min
      BMW M8 Competition: 1.53,1 min
      Porsche 911 Carrera S (992): 1.53.3 min
      Mercedes-AMG GT 63S: 1.53.4 min
      Porsche 718 Cayman GT4: 1.55,0 min
      BMW M2 CS: 1.55.8 min
      BMW M5 Competition: 1.54.2 min
      Audi RS7 Sportback: 1.57.3 min
BMW M2 Competition (Semi): 1.57,6 min
Audi TT RS Performance: 1.57.7 min
      Toyota GR Supra: 1.58,8 min
      BMW Z4 M40i: 1.59,5 min
      Porsche 718 Boxster T (PDK): 1.58,8 min
      Mercedes-AMG A45 S 4Matic +: 2.00,7 min

The Audi is the slowest of the three and considerably so. The M5 Competition is three seconds quicker (an eternity on the track) yet the AMG GT S is still comfortably ahead.

Mercedes-AMG worked some real magic with the AMG GT S 4-Door chassis.

That GT63S is so damn big, i dunno how AMG pulled that off! That will always be the real shocker here.

The GT63S is epically dialed in. You can tell that car is corner balancing itself perfectly as it rotates. It's almost like it has dedicated track suspension and camber

Both GT63S and the M5 are the more sporty versions, the RS7 is only first edition, we have to wait for the Performance to see how capable it is on track with more enhanced sportiness.

A lot of times that faster time comes down to the type of tyre and wear

To be fair, the RS7 is brand new and trailing significantly. Sure, they can do an RS7+ but the fact it just came out and is the slowest by far around the track isn't good... and typically what you expect from Audi.

The AMG GT63s and the m5 comp are more track focused than their first editions with different suspension, lightweight rims and horsepower, and let's be fair here, they have more horsepower than advertised that's for sure, the simple RS7 cannot beat them coz its not the Performance one.
