    • Addressing the 4.0 TSFI V8 bottleneck - MRC Tuning RS6/RS7 intercooler kit/system

      The Audi 4.0 TFSI V8 is an excellent powerplant and it powers RS7's into the low 10's on the factory turbochargers. The problem is the RS6/RS7 have pretty much been stuck in limbo. It is perplexing as the 4.0 TFSI V8 is the strongest tune only motor in its class yet its competitors are all making more power on aftermarket turbochargers.


      The bottleneck appears to be the cooling system. Number 8 in the diagram here is the factory intercooler:


      MRC Tuning is ditching the factory system and redesigning the cooling setup.

      They posted pictures of their design but beyond that, they haven't said anything. They have not posted updates or responded to questions.

      If anyone can figure this out it is MRC Tuning.

        That's one hell of an intercooler upgrade, maybe MRC and Iroz will finally move the platform forward.

        AMS sells an Air/Water intercooler upgrade kit for $2k. It's listed for the S6/S7, but I don't see why it couldn't be fitted to the RS7 just like the RS7 turbos can be swapped onto a S6/S7

        Would like to hear any encouraging things happening for the Audi 4.0tfsi.

        I personally prefer to shape of the s6, but it needs more tuning and modification support from the aftermarket.

        Compared to the rs3, tuning and aftermarket support for the s6 is peanuts.

        Yep but also a different market. Plus the 2.5 TFSI has a far longer history and Audi didn't saddle it with an ECU that would keep everyone out.

        Basically, Audi said if you want to tune we'll give you the 2.5 TFSI. If you want a fast S6, get an RS6/RS7.
