    • HGP turbo claims to be getting 571 horsepower out of the B9 Audi RS4/RS5 EA839 2.9 V6 with their Stage 1 tuning

HGP Turbo in Germany is already tuning the new B9 Audi RS4 and RS5 models. These vehicles come with a 2.9 liter V6 internally designated the EA839. The motor is rated at 450 crank horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque.

HGP Turbo claims to increase these figures to 571 horsepower and 601 lb-ft o torque respectively. Very nice gains, right?

They provide a dyno although there is no baseline on it so it is not quite so easy to make sense of. It seems to be calculating the crank output:

Also, is this through a piggyback or actual ECU tuning? One would guess a piggyback due to the ECU seemingly not being cracked yet.

      Performance increase to 571 hp / 816Nm

      [Stage1]

      • Adapted engine electronics with V / Max. repeal
      • HGP Wastegate mechanics on the turbocharger
      • Changed air supply and sports air filter
      • Changed control of exhaust flaps
      • Improved charge air cooling through larger water heat exchanger (HGP intercooler)
      • TÜV registration

      Price: € 6.900,00 [incl. VAT.]
      Installation: € 800,00 [incl. VAT.]

7K € wow...sell a couple and they got their development costs back.

The dyno is well known by the way and has an excellent reputation.

I'm familiar with the Superflow just not sure how in that instance the crank hp is derived.

I was referring to the operator (Henni), they are quite well known for knowing their stuff.

It is probably similar to the MaHa dyno in that it measures the rolling resistance and then calculates the correction factor itself.

Yeah if I were to guess that is what it looks like.

Hgp is well known for their crazy 700hp+ vr6 turbos.

Happy to see them getting in the game, it means numerous others will follow and rs5 will be bumped way up.

I really like these measuring dynos. Eliminates this nonsense of unscientific calculation that people do with regular dynos to get flywheel hp. Shame it’s not popular stateside. I guess having room to tell the unhappy customer that “yeah thats a low number but when you add 30% drivetrain loss its right where it should be” is key.

Even awd automatic cars don't have 30% drivetrain loss anymore except maybe HD trucks.

I'm hoping BMS gets into the RS4/RS5 game while someone figures out how to crack this ECU.

Pricing on this is insane. Who is going to spend $7000+ for an ECU tune?
