    • Iroz hits 9.7@145 in their 8V Audi RS3 sedan setting a new 2.5 TFSI record

Another record for the new aluminum block dual-injection 2.5 TFSI inline-5 platform. Iroz Motorsport went to a test and tune at Fontana dragway and ran a blistering 9.727 @ 145.56 miles per hour. In other words, just over 20 miles per hour more than what the PorscheBoost Project 991.2 managed at the same track a few days earlier.

The 2.5 TFSI just keeps impressing and we will not stop talking about it. To run this kind of trap speed and time in California summer heat at Fontana is insane. These cars will be doing mid 9's or better at close to 150 miles per hour in the winter.

Iroz is not sharing many details but they are on E85 with weight stripped out. The Xona Rotor turbo in the IMS850 turbo kit is doing most of the work.

      What a platform, wow!

The car actually has a full interior

Vid here . 14:25 shows his run, and the full interior afterwards.

        Simply sick!

they didn't mention if it's full weight

The way they keep avoiding answering if it's full weight probably tells you it isn't.

Negative, that video was done at Sacramento race way, there he did run full weight and ran a 9.96 @144

however I suspect he knew he could run faster with weight stripped out considering how close he was to Malaka’s car that ran 9.82 stripped of the bolt back together stuff like seats, battery, etc

Hence he ran at Fontana, probably stripped out with drag radials, and ran 9.7.

Hanks car most likely has a higher more risky version of tune than on a customers car like George/Malaka.

Ah I see, I got my runs confused. Car is still moving, pretty cool to see this thing with a turbo upgrade trap like that out of 2.5L.

Curious what this will run on 93 pump

        I think you nailed it.

The fact he pulled this off at Fontana is mind bending. Maybe they prep better for the Test and tunes. I'll go check myself.

from IROZ and george's IG its the same tune and both on stock internals and trans....and both on IMS850 kit at the moment...

keep in mind they have a +150hp more kit in the IMS1000 which i believe Lusky (one of their customers) has and has been testing and cutting 1.3x 60fts per his instagram (not sure why he doesnt have 1/4 times yet though)

You really believe it is the same tune? I don't.

They are limiting torque to 500ftlbs to preserve the rods on the stock motor.
Once the engine is built and they can up the max torque to 650 it’s going to generate 1000hp

        I want to see some dynos of ims1000 cars showing 650 wheel torque @ 7500rpm = 928whp

I wonder if these cars will eventually run low-mid 9's @ 150mph full weight, seems like the lighter TTRS may have a better chance.

Here is an older version of the 2.5L (IMS1000 kit), looks like it revs to 8,000rpm and my be limited to 600awtq

I agree, would be interested to see the new version 2.5L with this kit on the dyno. Heck even if they limited it to 500awtq, I wonder if someone will actually make this thing wring out to 8,000rpm to get more awhp on a hydrid/upgraded turbo on stock internals.

think I'd $#@! my pants if I ever had a 1000hp/3000lbs car. Keep repeating myself, but this is def in the #1 spot when the prices drop a smidge at the end of the year or beginning of next year.

I don't doubt it for one second. They're one 1.4 second 60' on a cool night away from it. The fact that the limit on the stock rods has yet to be found makes me question how close they'll get to 8's on the stock long-block.

Haven't watched it yet, but here is a video detailing the car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Okzq...ature=youtu.be

Probably some good info in here. The post on Facebook also claimed 'a lot more in it' so this record will probably be updated by the end of next week.

yeah i have talked to a few of those guys in IG and makes sense of it being same tune... I think the improvement was DA as i think it was like ~2150+ DA on the day at sacramento and about ~1100 DA on the fontana day... so a difference of about 1050 in DA

both cars are limiting the trq/ power as they are on stock internals and trans so no reason to turn up the tune any further at this point as all that does is cause clutch slipping and slower shifting

I dont think they can turn up the tune any further until the upgrade the clutch at the least otherwise they will just have a slower launching/ shifting car..... I think they have found the sweet spot for stock clutch car.... now time to upgrade the clutch and see how fast they can go on upgraded clutch + stock internals..... then after that build the motor and see how fast it can go

i think ~9.7 is limit on stock clutch.... maybe low- mid 9s on upgraded clutch.... and 8s on fully built motor and IMS1000 kit

All 9 second passes have been be the same file. The TCU shift points were slightly modified yesterday vs last weekend, and he DA was actually worse in Fontana yesterday by the time 11am rolled around.

Thank you for clearing that right up...so same ECU tune but slightly updated TCU tune

this is awesome, it's rare in the Audi community to have the developer chime in on progress, this is rare and awesome and transparent.

Yeah Fontana is only good in the summer during those 2 morning hours on Test and Tunes. By good I mean not 4000+ DA. Sac gets cooler breezes and is at lower elevation.

Ok so similar but some TCU changes. That makes sense. Thanks.

Malakas car actually makes more power, and a little lighter car because of no exhaust and ceramic brakes. I think he goesnmuch faster with the tcu updates. Fontana’s incline slope is a huge buzz kill. At this point we are just gathering data and experience with the platform. Times will drop like rocks this fall at he current learning curve.

It's almost 2% uphill, buzzkill is right.

Where else is there to go though? Sac is such a drive and Vegas is even warmer.
